Lancashire appoints new chair

Veteran financial director Philip Broadley has become the chair of Lancashire Holdings following the company's annual general meeting. 

The Bermuda-based re/insurer announced last November that Broadley would become chair, succeeding Peter Clarke, who has now stepped down as chair and as a non-executive director of the company. 

Broadley has been a non-executive director of pharmaceutical giant Astra Zeneca since 2017 and of life re/insurer Legal & General since 2016. 

He was group finance director of financial services company Old Mutual from 2008 to 2014 and held the same role withe Prudential between 2000 and 2008. 

Clarke had been chair of Lancashire from 2016.
